UNDERGRADUATE STUDY PROGRAMMES

General Orientation
Undergraduate degree programmes in different disciplines have been designed to equip the graduates with adequate relevant theoretical knowledge, along with practical skills necessary for application. The graduates will be enabled to deal effectively with problems in the 'World of Work', and to be able to make technological innovations to accelerate the society's industrial growth. Specific programmes have been developed after careful consideration of present and future requirements of technological and scientific manpower in the country.

Degree Duration
All first degree programmes are normally of five (5) years' duration. The first year is spent in foundation year courses common to all programmes. Academic inputs consist of basic courses in natural, applied and social sciences, coupled with engineering drawing and workshop practice. Academic inputs in the second year consist of a combination of University and School common courses in science/engineering technology, along with General Studies, Engineering Drawing and Workshop Practice. From the Third year onwards, specific specialization courses are offered in each discipline. A good choice of elective courses are available to students in the fourth and fifth years of each programme.
